Diverse home styles, small-town vibe, and abundant outdoor recreation.
Livermore is a growing city in the Eastern San Francisco Bay Area that hasn’t lost touch with its small-town roots. Livermore’s agricultural heritage is evident in its thriving wine country. Upscale, but never uptight, you’re sure to find families enjoying picnics on the lawn, or listening to live music at one of Livermore’s forty wineries.
Livermore began as a ranching, agricultural, and railroad town. In the 1950s, Livermore’s population began to increase, and some of its first suburban communities were developed along the northern edge of town. Slow growth continued, and well-planned neighborhoods spread to the south. Today’s real estate includes spectacular custom properties with expansive lots and sweeping vistas of the nearby hills, historic homes within walking distance to locally owned shops and eateries in the quaint downtown, and exquisite suburban communities – both new and well-established – with a close-knit neighborhood feel. Livermore’s diversity, its small-town charm, and its proximity to both the San Francisco and South Bay areas make it a desirable place to call home.
Livermore prides itself on being a welcoming, close-knit community. Weekly Farmers’ Markets on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings (April – October) at Carnagie Town Square bring residents – young and old – together for freshly picked produce, food from local eateries, and live music.Festivals throughout the year such as the Holiday Sights and Sounds Parade, Fourth of July Family Fun Fireworks Celebration, and the Tri-Valley’s premier Livermore Downtown Street Fest attract residents and visitors alike.
Venture outside of downtown for the Livermore Valley Harvest Wine Celebration where over 30 Livermore wineries celebrate the crush season by hosting activities including wine tasting, arts, crafts, and music. Livermore is also home to the World’s Fastest Rodeo. This annual event originated in 1918, and is celebrated the second weekend in June with family days, a downtown parade, and culminating in rodeo events on Saturday and Sunday.
Recreation and outdoor spaces abound in Livermore. Boasting thirty neighborhood parks, there’s always a place nearby for children to play. Expansive open space and hiking trails can be found at 847-acre Sycamore Grove Park and 55-acre Holdner Park. Sport practices and events are held among Livermore’s seven community parks. Livermore is also home to two swim centers, a BMX and a paved skateboard park, and an equestrian facility.
